“If you want a better life for yourself and your family, you must save for the future. If you have a job, there is no guarantee that you will have that job tomorrow. But if you have saved, you guarantee that there are no big risks and shocks when you leave the job.”
IKIMINA (Tontine) is an informal credit and saving group whose members are committed to pay a predetermined sum at a given frequency to a common fund in order for one of them to take it. The arrangement determines how each member pays, the period to pay and how each member receives the funds in the right time.
IKIMINA TERIMBERE started on 5th April 2019 by six teachers from a public school, GS BUKORA, located in Kirehe Distirct - Nyamugari Sector. As of May 2020, the activity of IKIMINA TERIMBERE began to expand markedly by the increase in the number of members.
To date, IKIMINA TERIMBERE has 16 tontinier members who saved more than 700,000Frw. It has also currently granted IKIMINA credits to most of the members for a value of more than 500,000Frw.
